Ramaswamy compares his Republican rivals to Dick Cheney ‘in heels’ | ET REALITY

Forget the tax cut promises and RINO accusations. Heels, precisely, are the new political stick in Republican politics.

For weeks, the question of whether Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida wears heels on his cowboy boots has been under attack from former President Donald J. Trump and others.

The bizarre meme made its way into the Republican presidential debate on Wednesday, when Vivek Ramaswamy used it to attack both DeSantis and former Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina, the only woman on stage in Miami.

Ramaswamy compared his two Republican rivals to “Dick Cheney in three-inch heels.”

The moment came during an exchange about the United States’ role in the war between Israel and Hamas. Ramaswamy, the youngest of the five Republican presidential candidates in the debate, attempted to separate himself from DeSantis and Haley, who said they would urge Israel to completely eliminate Hamas.

Ramaswamy said Israel had the right to defend itself, but wanted to “be careful not to make the establishment mistakes of the past.”

He asked: “Do you want a leader from a different generation who puts this country first, or do you want Dick Cheney in three-inch heels? In which case, we will have two of them on stage tonight.”

Ms. Haley addressed the criticism a few minutes later, saying that Mr. Ramaswamy made a mistake with his footwear.

“They’re five-inch heels,” she said. “And I don’t use them unless you can run in them. The second thing I will say is that I wear heels. They are not for a fashion statement. “They are for ammunition.”

The debate was still ongoing, but DeSantis had so far not discussed the details of his boots.
