Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy shot in Palmdale, sources say

PALMDALE, Calif. (KABC) — A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized Saturday after being shot in an ambush in Palmdale.

According to multiple reports, the deputy, who has not been identified, was shot while inside his patrol car near the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at the corner of Sierra Highway and Avenue Q.

He was rushed to Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, where he is in critical condition.

Sen. Scott Wilk, who represents the area, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday night and said he is “closely monitoring” the shooting.

“This is disgusting and heartbreaking news,” he wrote. “As we learn more details, my prayers are with the officer, his family and the entire Palmdale community tonight.”

It is unclear what sparked the shooting and information on a suspect or suspects was not immediately available.

Video obtained by ABC7 shows deputies placing duct tape at the crime scene near the sheriff’s station, blocking several streets.

Meanwhile, several officers were seen entering the Antelope Valley hospital.

Eyewitness News is working to gather more details.

This is a developing story. This article will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.
